At Play: The Pegeen Vail Series

As a child, I was fascinated by the art of surrealist painter Pegeen Vail (1925-1967). She liked to draw curvy chair legs and claw foot tubs, patterned wallpaper and striped umbrellas that looked as though they were melting in the sun. At age twelve, I created replicas of two of her works, Family Portrait and On the Grand Canal on the back on my closet door. It is Pegeen’s works that served as the inspiration for these new prints, perfectly suited for kid’s wallpaper or bedding, or perhaps a beach towel.
